One Room Down, 3.5 to go

A Day of First

It's been a big weekend for Abri. Today she tasted her first food, and I'm happy to report it was a big success. Before she got her first bite in, Lise' gave her the bowl with the spoon and said, "Here Abri, eat it." Before I knew what had happened, Abri had knocked the bowl off the tray. Luckily it landed upright, and all was not lost. It was such a sweet action that we had to chuckle.

The first few bites were sort of an experiment for her, but once she figured out how to swallow, there was no turning back! She squealed with delight and in anger every time I took the spoon away for another bite. By the time it was all over with, she was literally covered in cereal.

That lead to another first for her-a bath. Before you say anything, yes, I bathe her. It's just she's never been in the big bathtub before. Lise' was so excited that she crawled into the bath too-without taking her clothes off. She's been waiting for this moment for a long time.

After the bath, both girls were on the floor playing around, and B witnessed the first coordinated movement resulting in a crawl for Abri. Of course, I was in the kitchen and missed the whole thing, so until I see it, it won't be entered into the baby book. Sorry B, it's kind of like World Records-an official judge has to be present.

As for the house, B's still working hard. I've included a finished pic of the laundry room. Sorry I don't have a before picture. Those are stuck on a hard drive on a computer that bit the dust. Hopefully with time I'll get those back.

Until the next post....take care

Things are going slower than planned.

Well, I'd like to report that the laundry room is complete, but due to work and travel, B just hasn't had the time. He tried to finish it last night, but as fate would have it, he was short one part, so the wait continues. I'd post pics, but I want to put the before and after together for the complete ahhh moment, so you'll just have to wait.

Abri has grown by leaps and bounds though. In just 2 short days, she's gone from the "swim" on her belly to pushing up on her knees and rocking back and forth. I'm sure it's only a matter of days before she's off and running. I'm really not looking forward to keeping unapproved baby items off the floor again. Oh well.

As for our search for our next home, we're still no closer to an answer. Where's that crystal ball when you need it? The Tuscaloosa plant is officially closed in 2 weeks, and lucky for B, we go on vacation the following week. We hope to have some sort of answers by then, but who knows. I'll let you all know just as soon as we do!

Love to all.

Our summer thus far

We've been busy this summer, and here's just a sampling of our activities:

In May, we went to visit Jeff and Alex in Atlanta. We rode the MARTA train downtown to the aquarium. I belive Lise' thought that was even better than the fish.

In June, we went back to Louisiana to baptize Abri. Of course, we always love to visit with family and friends.

At the end of June, B's parents and our neices, Clare and Kaye, rode the train up to stay with us for a few days. We went hunting for shark teeth in a nearby creek and played in the "Swindell Waterpark" the rest of the time.
As many of you have heard, USG Framing has ceased operations here in Tuscaloosa. Which means, we will moving on soon. Unfortunately, we don't know where that is yet. In true Swindell fashion, we're racing to get the house done.

In June, B worked tirelessly in the yard. It's looking great though, and we have the pictures to prove it.

This past weekend, we painted the laundry room. WOW! What a difference this made. Pictures don't do it justice.

As for this coming weekend, P.J. is coming up to help out. Our plan is to tile over all the laminate countertops and redo the master bathroom. Hopefully, we won't hit any snags along the way.

Let's get started!

Hi everyone!

I know all our lives are hectic these days, and as a mom of two, moments to myself are few and far between. Therefore, rather than email everyone individually, this is my attempt to keep all our friends and family in the loop of our exciting days. We hope you enjoy!

Julie, B, Lise' and Abri

P.S. Please be kind to me in this process. I am VERY new to the world of blogging!
