Winter Rewind
It's Monday, and we're still held hostage by the winter winds outside. We'd love nothing more than to have a day in the sun. Oh well, I guess I should just be thankful that we're not in the Dakotas where they are getting 35+ inches of snow.
Here's what happens when your 2 year old has been inside way too long. "It's Fixed."
Other big news, Abri has officially been sleeping in her BIG GIRL BED for one week! Yeah. The first 2 nights were rough, but the rest have been fairly good. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
And, just because they're so darn cute when they sleep.
Did I ever tell you that we were in the King Cake business for a while? The girls had a great time, and I do say, they rivaled anything we would have gotten from home. Their favorite part was putting on the colored sugar. Lise' brought one to school & we made several for friends and neighbors.
*I only wish that stupid vacuum wouldn't keep ending up in photos. We don't have a closet to store it in downstairs. Please ignore it.
Weekend View
I was sitting here just a while ago trying to figure out exactly what we did this weekend. Originally, we thought it was going to be warm enough to hike the newly expanded Hudson Trail along the bay, but the wind wasn't allowing that. Then, we thought we'd get a head start on the house renovations, but with the kids climbing the walls, we decided at the last minute to go to the St. Patrick's Day parade in Highlands, NJ-right next door to our town. As a former Louisiana resident, I think I have the authority to say that it was at best a C. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we went, but it consisted of every bagpipe group around (which was cool, but after the 1st few, they blend), and handful of politicians, a beauty queen, the high school band, one or two "floats" advertising local businesses and every fire truck from 5 miles around. The best throw they had going was gum wrapped like shamrocks. And, what parent wants their young kids chewing that stuff? All I can say is that we've been there, done that, and next year, I may just find something else to do.

Happy Spring!
We've been counting down the days to the first day of spring. The bulbs are poking their little heads out & we even had one day this week where we went to the park without our heavy winter coats on. Imagine the disappointment this morning when we looked out the window.

It's not the Imagination Movers, but it's good.
New recipe for carrots. (Click on Carrots). The kids enjoyed them, and they were easy!

Imagination Movers
For the girls' birthdays, we bought tickets to see the Imagination Movers. It's a group of guys from New Orleans that write & perform children's music. We love them, and thought they would be a great 1st Concert for the girls. It was in a small theater, and we were sitting in the balcony, but the seats were great because we could see everything.
Birthdays
As many of you know, we have just completed the season of birthdays in our home. By Feb. 12, we're done for the year. Jan. 8-Julie B's parents were visiting, so I had the ultimate seafood birthday dinner. Mr. Ed boiled lobsters and crabs, and everyone ate until they couldn't eat anymore. I think we've started a new tradition. ` Abri was the first to play with the lobsters. Lise' wasn't so sure they weren't going to attack. Jan. 13-Lise turned 4 Lise' taked (more like guilted) Mimi & Papa into staying for her birthday. We stated with a party at home with our friends, the Ilarrazas. We had dinner, and the girls played dressup and enjoyed the princess Dora cake Daddy decorated b/c Mommy was at a meeting. On her real birthday,we had lunch with Daddy at the mall and brought cupcakes to school and had special birthday pancakes for breakfast. A new tutu & backpack. A fish was the big gift. That's what she asked for, so I took her to the pet store, and we shopped for all the parts. Feb. 9-Abri turned 2 We just did a small family birthday-nothing big, but just right. She had a coke cake, and her favorite thing was blowing out the candles. We relit them several times, so she could keep doing it.
Feb. 12-
B By this time, we were tired of cake, but Lise' insisted B have something. We stopped at the Italian bakery on our way home to pick out a treat for him.
